Sunrise on desert flowers at Painted Canyon,
Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota
Fall, 2001

On one of those rare cold mornings when I managed to
get up before sunrise, I waited behind this
semi-translucent flowering plant.  The wait was rewarded
with the flower pedals capturing the light of the sunrise
and glowing pink.  A really nice park, but I was glad not to
get trampled by buffalo during the night, as there's plenty
of those in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
